Arriving back at the flat, I immediately turn the bath on to fill, although a warm night, we are still very wet from the rain, tired but happy, the adrenaline not finished pumping from our excitable experience in the wooded picnic site in the middle of the night. I pour us a drink as we wait for the bath to fill, and soon we are both warming up in the hot water. A quick bath, and were off to bed, snuggling up we talk about what we did, how we felt, and how we enjoyed being together so much. But soon with the tiredness and the fact that it was now in the early hours of the morning, we drift off to sleep holding each other tight.
We awake, drowsy but with that warm cosy feeling that you only get when you wake up beside someone you love. I go and make a drink and bring it back to the bed, and we sit drinking nestling against each other. We sort out who is going to shower first, and begin the process of pulling ourselves around. We don’t want to leave it too late to go out today, I want to show you the countryside we have around us, make the most of the dry warm weather.
We get in the car and head out of town, I drive up to the castle and show you the grounds, we don’t stop, just drive through as it is very busy, there’s so much to see but we only have a few days to see it all in, and I don’t want to be out all the time, I want to spend time with you at home too, time at home to feel like a proper couple, the relaxing, the just sitting about talking, doing the dreary old things such as wash up the dishes, but which doesn’t seem so dreary when we do it together. We drive back into town and stop at the supermarket, popping in to get some fresh snacks for our picnic, then taking a walk along the canal side to see the lock and canal museum.
Back in the car we head out for the coast, along the twisty A road and start to climb the hills before we reach the sea, chatting and telling each other all about ourselves, the things we have done, the places we have been. We pull into Fairbourne, park up alongside the few little shops and get a drink, then we use the toilet, there are no toilets where we are heading.
Back in the car we drive the short distance back along the main road, and two minutes later we are parking on the grass verge of the main road, there is nowhere to park in the small lane we are going to use. Changing into your trainers while I get the backpack and blanket out of the boot, it’s not long before we are walking up the sloping little lane hand in hand.
We climb the style, and of the main road, walking up the sloping stony track that zig-zags the side of the hill. It’s steep, and we stop frequently to get our breath before starting off again. We get three quarters up and the path changes to a narrow gap between the rockface, stepping on bigger stones and carefully climbing the steep slope trying to avoid the water which flows down. We emerge on to a plateau, all grassy and bright in the sunlight, and rest for a moment looking out over the tiny town and towards the sea. The breeze is strong and cooling after our climb, and your hair blows in the wind, wind which tries to lift your skirt and tease me.
We now head around to the next part of the hill, we can see the top now, not far off but looking impossible to reach. As we reach the steep bank we move to the left and as if by magic a tiny tunnel becomes visible, a little black hole in the mountainside. Its like a little river, with the remnants of a narrow rail track still visible on its floor, and we duck and start to walk through, from one stone to the next, feeling the water drip on our backs and heads, the tunnel splits, and we take the left turn, and it suddenly opens out into the Blue Lagoon.
